Newlands Cricket Ground
Newlands has staged Test cricket since the 1880s, which puts it among the oldest grounds in the country. It lies in the southern suburbs, under Table Mountain and Devil's Peak — the backdrop most visitors photograph before they've watched a ball.

V&A Waterfront
The harbour district, with water views, shops and restaurants and the Table Mountain cableway close by. It is secure and easy to walk, which is why many first-time visitors start here.

The centre, cupped between the mountain and the harbour, near the museums, restaurants and nightlife. Hotels, guesthouses and apartments are plentiful, and the MyCiTi bus and ride-hailing both run well here.

Atlantic Seaboard (Sea Point, Green Point & Camps Bay)
The coast from Green Point and Sea Point round to Camps Bay, with a seafront promenade and larger apartments that work for groups. Camps Bay is the smartest of the three and about 20 minutes from Newlands by car.

Airport and transport
- Nearest airport
- Cape Town International Airport (CPT). Cape Town International sits roughly 20 km east of the city and is well connected to the southern suburbs, City Bowl and Atlantic Seaboard by metered taxi and ride-hailing.
- Getting around
- There is no metro to speak of and the city sprawls, so plan on ride-hailing, metered taxis or your own hire car. The MyCiTi bus is the exception, running through the City Bowl, along the Atlantic Seaboard and out to the airport. On match days the roads towards Newlands clog up, so leave earlier than feels necessary.
- Season
- October and November are spring here: dry, sunny, warm by day and cool once the sun drops. The thing to plan for is the wind, which the peninsula gets in abundance. Bring layers.
