Kingsmead is old, central and almost within sight of the Indian Ocean. The sea air and humidity have long been kind to fast bowlers, and the ground has seen its share of big occasions — a 2003 World Cup semi-final among them.

- King Shaka International Airport (DUR). King Shaka International is about 35 km north of central Durban, near Umhlanga, and is reached by car or ride-hailing.

- Ride-hailing handles most of what you'll need, whether that's Umhlanga, the beachfront or the ground itself. Add a hire car if the wider KwaZulu-Natal coast is on your list. The seafront fills up before play starts, so build in a buffer.

- Durban stays warm and sticky whatever the month, and spring is no exception — comfortable to hot through October and November, with the odd coastal shower blowing through.
