Entry requirements

Do Bangladeshi passport holders need a visa for South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia?

Bangladeshi passport holders need a visa for all three host countries, and each has a different process. Plan early — the summary below reflects published policy but can change, so always confirm with each country's official immigration authority before you book.

South Africa
A visa is required and should be applied for in advance through the Department of Home Affairs. Allow plenty of time before travel.
Zimbabwe (Category C)
Bangladesh is in Zimbabwe's Category C: you must apply for and obtain visa approval online, before travelling, via the official Zimbabwe e-Visa portal. Visa on arrival is not available for Category C nationals.
Namibia
A visa should be arranged in advance via Namibia's official Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security e-services portal.

Apply early — approval before travel

Because Zimbabwe requires Category C nationals to secure approval before departure, and all three countries require advance visas, start your applications well ahead of any booking. Confirm current requirements with each official immigration authority and check the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs guidance before making non-refundable arrangements.

Getting there

Flying to Southern Africa from Dhaka

There are no direct services from Dhaka, so routings are typically one-stop via Gulf or African hubs — budget extra time for the connection. Confirm transit-visa and onward-ticket rules with your airline and any transit country before you fly, as specific carriers, routes, durations and fares change throughout the year.

Because Bangladeshi passport holders also need advance visas for all three host countries, line up your visa approvals before you ticket a multi-stop itinerary. Check that your passport has at least six months' validity beyond your travel dates and enough blank pages for entry stamps and visas.

Practical

Time difference between Bangladesh and Southern Africa

All three host countries run on UTC+2 year-round — four hours behind Bangladesh (BST, UTC+6), so the time change is modest.

For money, South Africa uses the rand (ZAR), the Namibian dollar is pegged 1:1 to the rand, and Zimbabwe uses the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) alongside the US dollar. Confirm card acceptance and cash needs with your bank before you travel.

Travel advice for Bangladeshi fans

For health preparation, consult a travel-health clinic and official guidance well before departure, as some routes and transit points can affect vaccination requirements. For safety and entry updates, rely on the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs and each destination's official advisories rather than informal sources.
